At Writing Symphony, we believe strong academic skills begin with a solid foundation. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Number Symphony, a new math learning program designed to help children build number sense, strengthen foundational math skills, and develop confidence in mathematics.
Math is about more than memorizing facts and solving equations. Children need to understand how numbers work, recognize patterns, and see relationships between quantities.
One important part of developing number sense is subitizing, the ability to recognize the number of objects in a small group without counting them one by one. For example, a child might look at four dots and immediately recognize four.
Subitizing helps children develop a deeper understanding of quantities, recognize number patterns, and build connections that support addition, subtraction, and more advanced mathematical thinking.
Number Symphony offers foundational math instruction for two grade-level groups:
Kindergarten–1st Grade
Young learners develop early number sense through activities that build quantity recognition, subitizing, pattern recognition, and an understanding of how numbers work together.
2nd–3rd Grade
Students strengthen their number sense, deepen their understanding of foundational math concepts, and develop flexible problem-solving skills that support continued mathematical growth.
Both programs emphasize meaningful learning experiences that help children understand mathematical concepts rather than simply memorize procedures.
Number Symphony incorporates visual learning and hands-on materials, including number cubes, to help children explore quantities, recognize patterns, and connect concrete experiences to mathematical ideas.
By making math concepts visible and interactive, we help students build understanding and confidence as they develop the skills needed for future learning.
Just as Writing Symphony helps students develop strong reading and writing skills, Number Symphony brings that same commitment to foundational learning to mathematics.
We’re excited to help children discover how numbers work, develop flexible thinking, and build the skills they need for future mathematical success.
