A recent Fox News article raised an important concern about how AI tools like ChatGPT might be quietly affecting how people think. As artificial intelligence becomes more common in our daily lives, from writing emails to answering complex questions, it is easy to forget that it is just a tool. It is not a replacement for real learning.

We believe strongly in the value of students learning how to think for themselves. Writing is not just about putting words on a page. It is about learning how to organize thoughts, support ideas, and communicate with purpose. These are skills that no AI can truly replicate. They are developed through practice, patience, and hands-on instruction.

AI can be helpful. It can provide examples, clarify definitions, or offer a starting point. But when students rely on it too heavily, they may miss the most important part of learning: struggling through the process. Struggle leads to growth. Growth builds confidence, curiosity, and independence.

Many schools and academic institutions are choosing to ban the use of AI altogether. But pretending it does not exist will not help students learn how to navigate the world they are growing up in. Instead of banning AI or fearing it, we believe in embracing it as a tool while preserving our ability to think deeply, write clearly, and work through challenges ourselves. Technology will always move forward. It is our responsibility to teach students how to move forward with it, not fall behind.

Our writing programs are designed to teach students how to outline, plan, and write on their own. We do not just teach grammar rules or sentence structure. We teach students how to think critically, ask strong questions, evaluate sources, and express their ideas clearly.

One of the most powerful parts of our program is the feedback students receive. It is not a generic rubric score or a list of comments written by AI. Feedback is given live, as part of a conversation with the student. This collaborative approach helps students understand the reasoning behind corrections and suggestions, so they can apply what they learn and improve in real time.

There is no shortcut to developing these essential academic skills. In a world full of shortcuts, we help students build a foundation that lasts. Real writing takes real thinking, and real thinking takes practice.

Let AI be a helpful assistant, but never let it replace your mind.
